If you want to go back to a time before grunge when rock stars really were rock stars then you should definitely get this album. Ranging from the more well-known bands like Poison, WASP, LA Guns, Warrant, Quiet Riot and Love/Hate to a lot of relatively obscure ones, it's as near as you'll get to a comprehensive guide to '80s LA metal.
It also proves that the scene wasn't all hairspray, lipstick and power ballads as the groups here range from sleazy trash-punk (the Joneses) through old-school Zep-style rock (Xciter) and throaty blues rock (the Hangmen, Rock City Angels) to Green Day style pop-punk (the Fizzy Bangers) and even industrial (Yesterday's Tear). All in all, it's a near-perfect guide to an ofter overlooked form of music.
