A night of pure rock n’ roll as Derry boys  SWANEE RIVER release their long awaited debut album “Smoking Jacket” down in the Empire Hall, Belfast, courtesy of Sounds of Northern Ireland (SO:NI).

Swanee River are one of Northern Ireland’s finest rock n’ roll bands whom are well known for supporting bands likeTHE ANSWER, TASTE and JADED SUN, as well as performing at festivals like GLASGOWBURY,PIGSTOCK & SUNFLOWERFEST.

[spoiler]After releasing 3 E.P.’s during their time of being together, it was high time for them to push on forward and bring out an album, and here it is!

Kicking off the night were THE LOVE SEEDS.  A 5 piece band hailing all the way from Co. Fermanagh.  These guys brought something a little different from your typical, average rock night.  They brought a more Celtic feel to the venue, with a constant swap of instruments that each member knew how to play perfectly.  Fantastic talent, and great fun, a band I’d highly recommend.

Next up on the bill were LEVITY BREAKS who brought an anthemic style to the night which featured some strong keyboard playing.  A very Snow Patrol influenced band that did deliver well to the crowd.

Hitting the stage hard next were one of the most thunderous bands in Northern Ireland NASA ASSASSIN, to whom sing about the end of the world and personal hygiene.  NASA as always didn’t fail to put on a performance of a life time, with ground shaking riffs and class A humour.

Now was the moment we’d all been waiting for, the headline act, SWANEE RIVER, led by the energetic Steve Horner.  The guys put on a sensational performance that got many of the Belfast crowd off their feet dancing and grooving to, with songs like “Blue Moon” and “The Dose.  The boys rounded off their feet pounding performance with their anthem “Baby Better Lady”.

The sound of Swanee River will be ringing in people’s ears for days to come.  All the best for their debut album, we will all be looking forward to the next one!
