Singer Gianni Pontillo has left his mark on formations such as melodic rockers Pure Inc., The Order or Souls Revival with his voice and has refined all-star productions such as “Rock Circus” and “This Is Rock” by Das Zelt. Since 2019, the power tube is also on the road as frontman of German hard rock legends Victory.
With PONTILLO & THE VINTAGE CREW, he is now launching a new project with various guest musicians that perfectly showcases his flair for cultivated bluesy hard rock and singer/songwriter numbers. In addition to many Swiss colleagues, the album also features a top international star: keyboard virtuoso Derek Sherinian, who has made music history as a live or studio musician with bands like Dream Theater, Black Country Communion, Sons of Apollo, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol and Joe Bonamassa.
Many of the music has been written by Pontillo himself on piano and within two years, 10 songs were created. The title track “For the Love of Blues” summarizes the album perfectly; organic rockin’ bluesy hard with power vocals and a big groove akin The Winery Dogs.

“Long time Gone” is a very nice mid-tempo number which goes to heart with Gianni’s emotional, and this time, soft voice. “Sing The Blues” y “The Keeper” are closer to the Joe Bonamassa style, however the riffs are heavier, with more ‘meat’.
“Between the Lines” is the ballad of the album, a showcase for Pontillo’s voice and his piano. The song totally hit the middle of your heart, you can feel it must be a very personal song. Adding acoustics to the mix, closer “Sound of Hope” is perhaps the most poppy track on the album, recalling David Coverdale solo.
If you are reading this website chances are that you already heard Gianni Pontillo voice in one way or another. PONTILLO & THE VINTAGE CREW is a different vehicle for the singer, and you’ll be surprised by Gianni’s impressive voice and strong songwriting.
This is timeless rocking bluesy rock n’ roll with well honed melodies, songs very well performed and taped with top class production. Seriously, mix, mastering & production are top notch.
