Volturian's second effort is a truly inspired and stylish take on the modern female fronted metal blueprint. A blend of the gothic and melancholic feel of the extraordinary debut "Crimson" (2020) with an even more sophisticated pop vein and some added subtle electronic layers.
Each "Red Dragon" song is characterized by a very contemporary sound, fascinating arrangements and charming sound dynamics; not to mention Federico Mondelli's consistently masterful songwriting. Featuring frontwoman Federica Lanna's heartfelt rendition, lyrically and aesthetically inspired by Thomas Harris' "Red Dragon" (the novel that established the Hannibal Lecter mythos) and graphic novels by Alan Moore and Frank Miller, the new Volturian album will wrap listeners in a warm blanket and open their eyes to a thrilling scarlet light.
