Swedes TREAT are without a doubt one of the greatest melodic hard rock bands in the history of the genre. Their ’80s albums defined the sound from Scandinavia with equal doses of AOR into the their music. We featured all these treasurable LP’s on this website, however not their 90’s work, very good music as well.
As requested, here’s TREAT self-titled album from 1992, in its rare digipak version featuring different artwork, mostly promo copies but some were sold in Germany. Musically, this was a ‘new’ TREAT, much more hard rock oriented according to times but still melodic and catchy.
Mats Levén (ex- Capricorn, Swedish Erotica) joined TREAT in late ’90s after one pretty successful album with rockers Swedish Erotica. Mats’ rocking voice resulted the perfect choice for TREAT’s new ‘Americanized’ style, providing punch and groove.
Produced by Joey Balin (Warlock, Chacko) who also helped with the lyrics, songs like ‘Bangin’ On Your Door’, ‘Dog Day Comin’ Down’, ‘Keep It Comin’, or ‘Watch Your Tongue’ simply kick ass.
”Treat 1992” is a very good 12-tracker deserving a place in your classic melodic hard rock collection.
