While German band TRANCE cult album 1983’s “Power Infusion” isn’t well known by many fans of the genre, this is unquestionably one of the finest hard rock / trad heavy metal records from the first half of the ’80s. This killer record stands toe to toe with the best Accept / vintage Scorpions and features some of the best classic metal songwriting you’ll find.
Now High Roller Records is releasing ”Power Infusion [40th Anniversary remaster]”, a really welcomed reissue of this cult LP with a really fine remastering job preserving the original tapes harmonics.

Damn it, those Germans do like they’re blood and guts, tried and true metal, and few on the continent could do it better.
Trance were a loud and proud, but fairly average band as of their 1982 debut album Break Out, but this sophomore effort threw their wattage up quite a few notches, landing them just outside an Accept / Scorpions level of intensity.
The riffs cruise along with crunchy ease, occasionally delving into semi-majestic arrangements (“Shock Power”) while Lothar Antoni’s shrill, but bold voice belts it out. Getting off to a quick start with a cool, dated classic in “Heavy Metal Queen”, the band’s punchy style is rooted in a rhythm section that doesn’t try to be too fancy, but just plugs along building a sturdy (but varied and capable) foundation for fine guitars to build upon.
“Burn Your Lies” comes close to being a commercially-viable cut, but the general emphasis is on blood and thunder, Trance being right up there with great German acts from the era. It doesn’t rewrite the rules or anything so formidable, but reminds one of an age when just being solid and dependably true metal was good enough.
An absolutely essential album for those who love top-notch ’80s European metal.
