‘Northlands’ is indeed a very beautiful and heartfelt work! A fair chunk of it is instrumental, but there are not really any particularly “rocky” parts as such, instead the entire album is symphonic in construction with moving moments of genuine beauty regularly on display, so it works perfectly on an emotional level; in fact there is a hauntingly relaxed atmospheric quality ever present, and of course needless to say, it is extremely melodic throughout.
