TONY CAREY is a musician whose career bears little resemblance to the rock-n-roll lifestyles of other artists. He belongs to that rare breed of artist who goes their own way. Not concerned with enhancing his own image, Carey focuses instead on keeping up with his own high standards.
His enduring success including numerous hits on the American and German charts, guest appearances with top acts such as Rainbow, and many impressive film soundtracks, proves that he always was on the right path.
“Retrospective 1982-1999” is a Best Of compilation spanning these years, the most busy and successful in Tony Carey’s career. The CD (now out of print and a collectible) features previously unreleased tracks and different versions only found here, all remastered.
The first 10 tracks on “Retrospective 1982-1999” are must-haves, from 1982 to 1990 when Carey’s music was pure AOR / Melodic Rock with MTV / radio hits like “I Won’t Be Home Tonight”, “Why Me?” and “The First Day Of Summer”. The rest is very good too, including a rocking, rawer pre-production demo version of “Heard It On The Radio” (1988) and the insanely catchy “I Don’t Want To Be In Love” (an unreleased 1987 track).
This is VERY good, the best of Tony Carey into one CD, plus rarities.
