As requested, let’s give this CD a listen: ”Three Nights In Tokyo”, the first live album from Norwegian hard rock favorites TNT. In the early Nineties and after adding impressive drummer John Macaluso to the line up, TNT negotiated a new (and generous) record contract with Atlantic Records, and released the strong studio album ‘Realized Fantasies’.
However, Atlantic did a poor job of promoting the album in the States (assuring that TNT would never find huge success in America) and also the rest of the world.
Anyway, TNT toured presenting the album and as usual, reached Japan, where they recorded three shows in Tokyo, resulting in the album ”Three Nights In Tokyo”, with selections from each night. TNT relationship with Atlantic was already terminated, so the band did an arrangement with East West Japan Inc. for the release, hence, the album only was available in Asia. (Years later appeared as bonus disc with their next studio album, but very limited quantities)
When ”Three Nights In Tokyo” hit the Japanese stores at the tail of 1992, TNT already had decided to take a break choosing to focus on various solo projects.
Regarding ”Three Nights In Tokyo”, the album sound quality is excellent, not too much ‘live’ in atmosphere, perhaps too much polished in playing, but heck, that was TNT around the time: Scandinavian perfection. The song selection is great though they shoulda been included songs from ‘Intuition’.
There’s TNT ’80s classics like 10,000 Lovers (In One), Downhill Racer, As Far As The Eye Can See, Everyone’s A Star, all awesomely performed.
Highly Recommended
