In 1972 Steve Lawrence, Steve Acker, and Mickey Williamson entered Peppermint Productions in Youngstown Ohio to record six songs that they had been perfecting live.
Using their initials to form the band’s name, they called themselves LAW. They were tight, powerful and wildly talented. This lineup didn’t last long. Williamson left the group and was replaced by Ronnie Lee Cunningham and John McIver. Their style shifted too; moving away from the power-trio/boogie thing and more pop, releasing three LPs (and as many lineup changes) between ’75 - ’77. Like so many others, they were just a hit away from longterm success. Despite the support of Roger Daltrey’s Goldhawke Productions the band called it quits. Consider this not only the prologue to the LAW story but also to Ronnie Lee Cunningham’s career.

6.Backbeat Boogie 10:16 is actually the uncut live studio version of 16m26sec
Does that mean that this isn’t the recently remastered retail version of the recordings, but the earlier LQ sounding bootleg which circulated online for years?
BTW, the title of the post is wrong. The band is simply ‘Law’, the album is ‘L.A.W. ’72’.
Then this must be the bootleg version . sounds great though .

The bootleg version was briefly made available on one of the band member’s own websites 8-10 years ago. That’s where i got it back then. It sounds pretty good but originated from a cassette copy, whereas the new digital version from Peppermint Records was remastered from the orginal master tapes & even just from the 128 kbps stream on their bandcamp it sounds like a big upgrade in sound.
Your geneous sharing of the version you had is still very appreciated buks, thank you. It just isn’t the version i sought. The search continues…
