The membership of The Windows was orginally sourced from a prior band called Raisin' Kane which started life back in 1975. Larry Brewer was the catalyst for the change away from country rock to something more commercial. They were regional favourites throughout the southeastern parts of the USA during most of the 80's, and had two stable line-ups during that time.

There are no southern rock influences to be found here I'm afraid. This is radio friendly stuff, which infuses power pop and radio rock to great effect. Think of bands like Eddie And The Tide, Steel Breeze and Avion and you've got a fair idea as to their style. Independently released and recorded in Ardent Studios in Memphis, the bands one and only album was produced by John Hampton during 1987, and was initially issued as an 8-track cassette and LP.

THE WINDOWS were a Lite AOR / Melodic Rock band from Western Tennessee, USA, formed in 1980. However, most group members met in the country-rock band called Raisin’ Kane five years earlier. It was in the late ’70s when singer and songwriter Larry Brewer fell in love with FM Rock and wanted a more melodic, commercial radio friendly sound: and THE WINDOWS born.
Amassing a strong following THE WINDOWS became regional favorites throughout the Southeastern area during most of the 80s, and had two stable line-ups during that time. The band recorded a demo for shopping labels but were not crazy a about it – they just didn’t wish to move to California following a major label deal.
So in 1987 ”Runnin’ Alone” was released via THE WINDOWS own private label, a collection of catchy tunes mixing the energy of The Arrows with the upbeat, joyful melodic sound of Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy, even Starship. Numbers like ‘Photograph’, title track ‘Runnin’ Alone’, ‘Motorcar’, are feel-good AORish songs, with catchy choruses perfect for the summertime. All very well produced & mixed with clean sonics.
This is the CD reissue put out by the band themselves with their Raisin’ Kane Music label including 2 bonus tracks, a 2001’s release when THE WINDOWS were disbanded already.

Despite founding member, keyboardist and songwriter Kirby Jackson died soon after ”Runnin’ Alone” was released, the band decided to continue and lasted until 1995.
With the internet explosion in early 2000’s many fans of the ’80s discovered THE WINDOWS’ music and demanded a ‘Runnin’ Alone’ reissue, and the album was available on CD for the first time with the addition of two songs, including the popular ‘Oh, Rene’, a favorite in the live shows but never properly released.
