THE WIDOWBIRDS announce their debut album tour for February 2012. After a soaring 18 months, an arms length of festival appearances and international supports, the release of their debut album is another feather to stick in their already bushy cap.

'You boys make a real good noise, and I mean Real Good' Tony Joe White (USA) Their strong passion for the deep yearning in 1960's and 1970's based soul rock music, with an undeniably passionate live performance and the handmade boutique approach to their first recording, has crafted them a genre of their own - Hard Soul. SHENANDOAH is a beautifully sewn first offering touching on the true stories of lives lived, loved and dreamt with the layering of great textures, lying amongst conga junk kit rhythms. Hemmed with an orchestra of strings, Lachlan Doley on Hammond Organ (Powderfinger / Jimmy Barnes) and the amazing soulful raw (roar) of vocalist Simon Meli, completes a great soul album. The album was cleverly recorded and produced by the band on the side of a mountain where singer Simon Meli had been living in Blue Mountains, with the final moments having being captured in a roaming flight out to the inner west where the band have finally nested. Friend and fellow falcon Steve Balbi was responsible for the final mixes, offering his own sleeves to rub up a good shine on the bird's first lamp.
