THE SPECTRE BENEATH is the project founded by British guitarist Pete Worrall, formerly of thrash acts Bleak Exist and Plague And The Decay, however the sound here deviates from his past machine, not least because of the lush female lead vocals sonarising over the recording.
Progressive metal with melody with splashes of symphonic and even gothic inspirations shine by turn right from start to end along this conceptual workout. It’s all pretty heavy musically which creates a captivating contrast with Stevie’s polished female voice, clean but powerful.
The Spectre Beneath sound is nearly as scary as James Bond’s arch enemies to start, and although they keep at it throughout all of their new record “The Ashen Child“, they have different ways of serving it shaken not stirred.
Licensed to kill any doubts you might have, The Spectre Beneath certainly rocks, with the artwork already there itself to attract you to the content.
