As part of the excellent Steelheart Memories Records ”The LOST MELODIC JEWELS” Collectors Series, we are presenting in exclusive the double-CD release of Canadian rockers ACES WILD, remastered from the original tapes and including bonus tracks.
ACES WILD is (they are still active) a Canadian band from London, Ontario, formed in the late 1980s and influenced the classic rock sound from America. Their first EP, “Deal Us In,” was released only on cassette in 1991. The band played live shows with / supporting Warrant, Harem Scarem, Honeymoon Suite.
Their full album “Race”, released in 1993, is a cult classic and has been out of print for years.
“ACES WILD – Race + Deal Us In” features both albums each on a separate CD plus 2 bonus tracks. The band’s music combines a classic hard rock / AOR style with the harmonies of Harem Scarem, the AOR sass of Honeymoon Suite and the classic metal attitude of Dokken.
In the rich annals of Canadian musical history, bands such as Triumph, Rush, Max Webster, Honeymoon Suite, Teaze, Headpins and Toronto all ruled the late Eighties / early Nineties Hard Rock scene and rightly so, but nestled away in London, Ontario were a group called ACES WILD, a band that should have amounted to so much more.
From their inception in 1989 to their demise in the mid-90s, the WILD ones gave it their all via several incendiary live shows as headliners or supporting major acts. Throw in a couple of above the average studio releases for an indie act and it all amounts to ACES WILD being one of Canada’s unsung bands.
As said, with that vintage Hard Rock style with melody, ACES WILD sounded like Harem Scarem circa 1993 but more technical (all guys are impressive players), add Honeymoon Suite’s AOR finesse, and a bit Dokken / T.O. Joker metallic attack.
Their debut EP “Deal Us In” and the follow-up, the full-length album ‘Race’ were for years impossible to find, cult classics deserved to be heard on a wider scale by fans of the genre.
