We were pleased to feature here some days ago the London based classic rockers THE KARMA EFFECT new album “Promised Land”, now we have the limited edition “Promised Land [Deluxe Signed Edition / digipak +5]” including non album tracks and a couple (and quite different) alternate versions as bonus tracks.

Emerging from the UK’s vibrant hard rock scene during the pandemic, The Karma Effect meld the bluesy hard rock stylings of contemporaries like The Temperance Movement and Greta Van Fleet, with the keyboard sheen and melodic songwriting of classic stadium rock bands like Foreigner.
“Promised Land” is a triumph. It’s a rock album that feels both familiar and fresh, combining the best elements of classic rock with a contemporary twist. If you’re a fan of timeless hard rock music with melody, this album is a must-listen. The Karma Effect has delivered an album that’s all killer, no filler, and it’s sure to leave you wanting more.

The album opens with “Livin’ It Up,” a track that bursts out of the gate with an electric intensity. Frontman Henry Gottelier’s vocals are a highlight, channeling the spirit of rock legends with a voice that’s both gritty and soulful. The backing band provides a solid foundation, with Seb Emmins’ keyboards bringing a shimmering 80s vibe, while drummer Ash Powell and bassist Liam Quinn create a driving rhythm that keeps the momentum going.
“Wild Honey” is another standout, an infectious anthem with a catchy chorus that’s bound to get stuck in your head. The band’s tight harmonies and layered backing vocals add a level of sophistication that sets them apart from other contemporary rock bands. It’s the kind of song that feels like an instant classic, appealing to both rock purists and new listeners alike.

“Still Falling for You” slows things down with a power ballad that tugs at the heartstrings. It’s a testament to the band’s versatility, showing they can switch gears without losing their rock edge. The guitar work here is emotive and poignant, and Gottelier’s vocals carry a sense of longing that’s palpable.
The title track, “Promised Land,” is another hymn with a choral refrain that’s sure to become a fan favorite. The production throughout the album is top-notch, with a polished yet raw sound that captures the band’s energy.

This Deluxe edition brings new songs equally good and strong, a very nice piano versions of two album tracks. Another showcase for Gottelier’s voice and the band’s wide sonic spectrum.
What makes ‘Promised Land’ stand out is its ability to transport listeners to a different place. The band’s escapism theme is evident throughout, from the pre-production bootcamp to the studio sessions where nothing else mattered except the music. It’s a journey into a rock’n’roll utopia, where every track feels like a moment of pure liberation.

The Karma Effect’s rapid rise is no accident. Their relentless touring, including festival appearances and sold-out headline shows has helped them build a loyal fanbase. Their signing to Earache Records, a label known for supporting rock’s biggest and best new acts, shows that they’re on the right path.
