Creating a rich mixture of blues rock & roots music, this Midwestern group seeks to carve out its own niche within the arena of power trios. Listening to the album, you're left feeling like these guys really know the blues, but have somehow made it through to the other side, to a brighter place. Much of the "how" is found in the lyrics of vocalist Nate Mosley. Full of messages of faith, failure, and forgiveness, the lyrics come across not as "preachy," but the words of a grizzled veteran of pain, saying "been there, done that, here's what I learned."
Fans of guitar driven blues & rock will not be disappointed, but where this trio shines is its rhythmic "groove." Much of the group's sound, which they refer to as "swamp stomp," is based on the simple concept of "if you can't groove to it, it ain't right yet." Drummer Paul Osborn and Bassist Stu Way ensure that each track ends up as a "swamp-stompin' good time." In the end, what else can you do after coming out of a bluesy situation, but swamp stomp?
