This one was requested long time ago and it’s a pretty hard to find: the Demon Doll Records remastered reissue of THE BANG GANG debut album from 1990 “Love Sells…“, and they have thrown in no less than 8 bonus tracks to boot.
Formed by members of hard rockers TKO and including Alice Cooper / House Of Lords drummer Ken Mary, while often compared with Poison, D’Molls, Cats N’ Boots, etc, THE BANG GANG were a different act from the LA Hollywood scene, one that perfectly blended the pop metal from the second half of the ’80s with the true glam / sleazy vibe. Their harmonies highlight the addictive songwriting tracks (including a wisely chosen cover of the T.REX song, “20th Century Boy”) plus a sharp double guitar attack.
THE BANG GANG isn’t just another band that ‘didn’t make it because they were not good enough’; they were signed by BMG and the likes of Jimmy Lovine, Clive Davis, Gene Simmons were interested in producing the band.
But the label delayed the production of their debut and THE BANG GANG decided to record the album and release it in 1990 via a small label, high quality recording, silver pressed CD et all. Tracii Guns play as guest here.
Actually, those songs were written in 1987-88, and if BMG would have been wise enough to put out “Love Sells…” in 1988, THE BANG GANG shoulda been massive.
