TANE CAIN - Tane Cain [Rock Candy Remastered & Reloaded] front
First Time In FLAC! It's wonderfully produced with all the classic AOR feel of the era, and this Rock Candy remastering recovers its polished sound with a crystal clear aural presence.

One of the most requested albums on this site is TANE CAIN (also known as Tahnee with the band Tryanglz) ’80s self-titled album, and Rock Candy specialists have done a great job with its remastered reissue, release on CD for the first time.
Among the most sought after albums ever from that decade there were countless bootlegs of “Tane Cain” all with poor sound, but now this superb Rock Candy Records remastering finally does justice to this wonderful slice of early ’80s American AOR.

The proliferation of female singers in rock really took hold in the early ’80s, fueled by the huge popularity of performers such as Pat Benatar, Heart’s Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks and Cher, amongst many others.
It was a golden period, with many new names appearing at an exciting rate. But for every successful contender there were an equal number of artists for which fame and fortune sadly stayed just out of reach.

One of those was Tané Cain, a Californian based chanteuse with the voice and looks that should have propelled her to stardom. Issued in 1982, Tané Cain’s self titled album has gone down in AOR folk lore as one of those records that had it all but, sadly, ended up as a fascinating curiosity rather than a big seller, despite the help and assistance of a major record label and several seasoned musicians.

Chief amongst her supporters was her then husband Jonathan Cain the keyboard player and songwriter for The Babys and Journey. Jonathan brought much to the party, co-writing most of the songs, playing on the album and roping in renowned producer Keith Olson to oversee the recording.
Employing a coterie of top LA Session players, including guitarist Tim Pierce and fellow Journey members Neal Schon (guitar) and Mike Baird (drums), the album was constructed with pin-point accuracy, giving rise to a record that has been a long term critical hit.

Check out such gems as ‘Temptation’, ‘Danger Zone’ where Tane’s velvety vocals are a pure delight, or the terrific AOR waves of ‘Holdin On’ for irrefutable proof.
In ‘My Time To Fly’ and ‘Crazy Eyes’ Neal Schon shines with a brilliant guitar work in a typical Journey fashion, while the ballad ‘Almost Any Night, co-written between AOR goddess Sandy Stewart and stellar producer (at the time musician) Beau Hill, is simply delicious.

“Tane Cain” did not make it big in the charts despite including a bunch of tracks that easy could have been Top 10 singles (‘Holdin’ On’ peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100). It’s wonderfully produced with all the classic AOR feel of the era, and this Rock Candy remastering recovers its polished sound with a crystal clear aural presence.
Also, there’s a very interesting essay about the making of the album and all the talented musicians involved, new interviews plus enhanced artwork.
A MUST HAVE for collectors and ’80s AOR fans.
