SYMPHONY OF SWEDEN leave a really good impression with last year’s album ‘Saints Of Yesterday’, and now we have 2023 ”Get Out Of My Mind”, a new collection of songs. If you are new to this duo from Sweden, their sound can be found somewhere between pop and metal, with epic choruses. The guys aren’t afraid to add electronics too crashing with vintage synths. It’s a balance mix of the ald with the new.
Yeah, SYMPHONY OF SWEDEN songs may have heavy guitars riffs, abut also the melody as focus in a pure ‘song format’ delivery; their tracks are effective shots not longer than 3 minutes and a half.
Evan Hagberg is the musical brain here performing many instruments and producing, while Linus “Lee” West play guitar and perform lead & backing vocals. “Lee” vocal color reminds me of Mike Tramp at times and has that peculiar appeal.
The new songs are pretty bombastic, with the midpaced ‘Lay Them Down (A Broken Son’s Cry)’ being among the best songs they ever recorded so far. Production is impeccable.
SYMPHONY OF SWEDEN is part on a new wave of bands which mixes commercial pop melodies with metallic, energetic instrumentation. Their music isn’t sympho, nor metal, nor pop but all rolled into one. It has something for everyone, and a wide appeal from old rockers to new generations.
