DDR Music Group has unearthed another gem from the past as it has released a ‘lost album’ from STRANGE TOYS, the Eighties band of ex-The Who keyboardist Loren Gold along with bassist Brian Spandenberg, lead vocalist Matthew Ledbetter, drummer Toy Martin and guitarist Brian Crow.
Entrenching themselves in the San Francisco scene back in the mid Eighties, Loren and the boys deliver radio ready ’80s glammy rock-pop songs with “Know You Know” championing the record. Some kind of softer Giuffria.
American keyboardist, vocalist, music director, and songwriter Loren Gold has been the keyboardist and backup vocalist for The Who since 2012, and Roger Daltrey since 2009. Loren also tours with Chicago and Rita Wilson, and has performed with Don Felder since 2009. Other artists he has toured with include Kenny Loggins, Hilary Duff, etc.
‘Strange Toys’ was definitely one of Loren’s first projects he was involved in. The group released a 7” single in 1984 a recorded a very well produced set of songs never released until today
Catchy and fun mid-80s stuff. (contributors get the album today)
