Second of two solo efforts by the former Sex Pistols guitarist, Steve Jones. Until fairly recent - I wasn't even aware that Jones had a couple of solo lp's out. Personally, I like his first one 'Fire And Gasoline' a bit more but don't get me wrong, 'Mercy' is a worthy pick as well. Tunes I got the most out of were the title track opener "Mercy", the upbeat "Give It Up", "With You Or Without You",
"Pleasure And Pain" (is it just me or does this track very much resemble Billy Idol?), the awesome "Drugs Suck" [perhaps his tribute to Sid Vicious, as I remember him saying just that in a public service TV commercial sometime back] and "Love Letters". Personnel: Steve Jones - guitar, bass & vocals, Kevin Savigar (has worked with Rod Stewart, London Quireboys, Pat Benatar, Peter Frampton among others) - keyboards and Mickey Curry (worked with Hall & Oates, The Cult and Ric Ocasek - drums. Should definitely do something good for fans of Joe Strummer, Thurston Moore, Pat Smear and Paul Weller.
