Steroid Freak Pussy are a Leeds band who formed in 2005 whose influences include L.A. Guns and Zodiac Mindwarp. In 2011 they had a lineup change and went from a 5 piece to a 4 piece band. Following this they headed to the studio to record this CD.
This release is a double A side single (which only makes sense if you are old enough to remember singles being released on vinyl). The two “A side” songs are “D.O.R.” and “If it ain’t broke”, and these are joined by a “bonus track”, “Genosha”. Why they didn’t just call it a 3 track EP and be done with it I don’t know. The title tracks are pretty much what you’d expect – great sleazy hard rock songs. If you haven’t listened to Steroid Freak Pussy then if you like sleazy rock you really need to give them a listen – they’re a great live band, and these songs show they’re just as good on record too. The final song is an acoustic ballad, so is quite a change of pace. It’s another great song though.
