Shelter was a Canadian melodic AOR band that released music in several incarnations between 1991 and 2014. The band started with a self-titled 8 song cd release in 1991 that proved to be a favorite of the AOR underground. In 1993 the band changed their name to J.T. Shelter, and released another album. Over the next few years, the band recorded a third album under the name Paradise Now that saw the band move in a more religious direction lyrically. The Paradise Now album was finished in 1998, and while it was only released to a few fans in CDr format, it is a classic AOR release. By the time the band's fourth and final full length album was released in 2005 (Hands Heavenward), the band had returned to the original name of Shelter. Like the Paradise Now cd seven years earlier, the Hands Heavenward cd was released only in very limited numbers. Around 2010 the band began work on a fifth full length album, but the project was never completed. The band released three songs from those sessions digitally between 2013 and 2014. To date, there has been no further activity from the band. Lead vocalist Jordan (J.T.) Batten has spent the ensuing years singing in several different Canadian cover bands.
