SHAWN MICHAEL PERRY is an experienced vocalist / songwriter from the independent American scene, having worked with several bands / artists and fronting his own band releasing a full album and many stand alone singles as well. Shawn run his own his own publishing company and has been nominated – won various – LA / Californian Music Awards, even for a Grammy as ‘best new male rock vocalist’.
Shawn’s style is classic hard rock with a bluesy foundation, rich in melody and harmonies, and that’s what we hear on his new album “Brave“. Perhaps for being from a indigenous heritage his music reminds me of Blackfoot.
A regular at the NAMM, the most important music event in America, some years ago Shawn Michael Perry joined Greg Chassion & Jeff Martin (Badlands) to put his voice and perform Badlands classics… so yes, “Brave” has many influences from Badlands too, both in sound & style.
And “Brave” may be an indie release but production is crisp, second to none: some tracks are produced by Grammy winner Frank Deville Greenfield, others by Alessandro Del Vecchio, who also graces the record with keys, arrangement, and backing vocals.
A very solid, strong classic hard rock record with varied songwriting from bluesy groove hot rockers to melodious midtempos to interesting ballads. Shawn Michael Perry’s voice is old school in tone, educated, but still retaining the primal rock n’ roll grit.
