On their forthcoming album, ’80s metallers SAVAGE GRACE are not only introducing their new vocalist Gabriel Colon – who is described as a blend of the early Rob Halford and the young Ian Gillian – but creating and moving into a new dimension of metal while keeping true to their authentic roots. Founder, guitarist Christian Logue assembled the a really strong crew of musicians from across the world to create the most devastating version of Savage Grace yet.
Sign Of The Cross” was produced by Logue and was mixed & mastered by renowned Roland Grapow at Grapow Studios.
In the Eighties, this band straddled the line between traditional metal and burgeoning thrash, leaning towards the speed and aggression of the latter camp, without forsaking the endearing melodies and clean voiced lyrics of the former.
Needless to say they sadly fell through the cracks. If you know nothing of the band, their debut LP Master Of Disguise is the place to start. The band’s second, 1986 ‘After the Fall from Grace’ still remain as a favorite of mine – a guilty pleasure in a year when I was full-on into Survivor, Journey, Aviator, etc.

Now after decades of start-stop (in)activity, and a tell-all saga, sold exclusively online, guitarist Christian Logue (as the lone original member) has resurrected the moniker with a trio of young bucks. Apart from the title track (Yes please, more of that vintage, speedy guitar driven sound!), which is easily the best of the bunch, the current incarnation opts for a modern melodic metal sensibility.
However, later “Slave Of Desire” also approaches the old school delivery, like the titular choice.
