Since formed in 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah, ROYAL BLISS there isn’t much Royal Bliss hasn’t already accomplished, from singing with a major label to tour all over the world. Thanks to their storytelling and ability to deftly blend classic rock with modern rock elements, Royal Bliss has toured with such diverse artists ranging from Kid Rock to Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Indeed, Royal Bliss is modern rock band but with a classic rock / hard rock essence, and that’s clearer than even with their new album “Survival“. The entire CD is rippling with clean power vocals, brawny riffs, killer drums, and lyrics that cut right through the pre-fab bullshit and into some serious heart-and-soul territory.
Royal Bliss does the hard rocking, spiky-riffed thing exceptionally well, modern but with taste. Just listen to “We Rise” with that raw scream, that serious drum-power, and that crushing guitar work. The band turn things even more catchy on “Black Rhino” – an irresistible, swaggering hit with the bass rumbling darkly, the guitar racing, and with stadium vocals by front-man Neal Middleton. It has a beat that gets under your skin and just stays there.
Listening to this album we can’t find a bad track in the bunch. Not one.
These guys have done the big label thing and the indie label thing, now with everything managed by themselves at this point they know what they want: make commercial modern hard rock but with integrity. That’s “Survival”, an album with appeal to young and old classic rock fans.
