Danes PUSH were one of the bands that kept the melodic hard rock flame alive during the Nineties / early 2000’s. The band now got the rights of all their albums and started by themselves a reissue campaign as most their CD’s are out of print.
a“Maximum Entertainment” is PUSH‘s debut album, originally released 1996, for many their best and they rock like hell here. Later Push would develop a logical and welcomed melodic hard evolution, but “Maximum Entertainment” is all about heavy hard rock’ riffs and a ballsy delivery / production.
One thing is for sure: “Maximum Entertainment” is the most dynamic, glam metal oriented record with that 1987 feeling both in songwriting and the huge production sound. Guitars are massive, while the solos just kill.
Lead vocalist and songwriter Martie Peters has been surely inspired by White Lion’s Mike Tramp style, and he owns a similar vocal timbre too – raspy on the rockers and warm on the melodious ballads, like on their really good cover of Cat Steven’s classic ‘The First Cut Is the Deepest’.
A hot, incendiary album hard rock album with 80s stylings.
Push from Denmark is a band still unheard by many – and “Maximum Entertainment” will, indeed, entertain you with 42 minutes well crafted and pulsating rock n’ roll.
