Scarlet: The Old Waldorf was recorded in August 1979. The band were trying out material that they would record a few months later at the Automatt sessions with Sandy Pearlman for their official second album, Shakin’ Street. They were opening for the Jim Carroll Band and the show was captured by KALX radio deejay and producer Terry Hammer. The lineup of Shakin’ Street that recorded this live album was Fabienne Shine with Ross "The Boss" Friedman on lead guitar, Eric Lévi on rhythm guitar, Mick Winter on bass and Jean-Lou Kalinowsky on drums.
