NORTHRUP is the band featuring renowned guitarist JK Northrup of KING KOBRA, XYZ, SHORTINO / NORTHRUP et all, a 12-song collection built around energy and guitar-driven hard rock, showcasing Northrup’s unmistakable musical identity. NORTHRUP’s “11:11” is set for release November 11, 2026, on Metallic Blue Records.
NORTHRUP is a full established band, not a solo project, delivering a more earthy organic sound than a solo venture. Joining JK Northrup (guitar & keyboards) there’s musicians who have worked with him before; solid vocalist David Cagle (LastWorld, Marty and the Bad Punch), bass player Larry Hart (King Kobra, Gypsy Soul), and drummer Tony Providence.
The album, produced, mixed and mastered by JK Northrup feature songwriting contributions from the likes of Terry Ilous (XYZ), Johnny Edwards (King Kobra, lead singer for Foreigner’s ‘Unusual Heat’), and Roger Sommers (Restless), so expect material firmly rooted in ’80s / early ’90s melodic hard rock.
Speaking of Foreigner, opener “The Bridge Is On Fire” recalls the underrated 1991 Foreigner album ‘Unusual Heat’, then ”I’ve Been Waiting Too Long” is harder, similar to Lynch Mob. “MRI” delivers a complete guitar work from JK, with tons of different guitar layers.
Cagles’ voice shine on the bluesy ”Fire And Water”, while “Don’t Talk About Love” is a midtempo ballad in the late ’80s mold. The rocker “Whiskey Hearted Woman” brings more variety with a lot of ’70s influences, at places closer to Richie Kotzen bluesy stuff.
“11:11” is a very enjoyable slice of classic hard rock with a bluesy foundation, melodic, and with enough diversity to keep you entertained.
