British based NEW ARCADES is one of the best current acts bringing back the ’80s nostalgia yet with a relevant, updated organic sound. Everything into NEW ARCADES is retro; from the vintage keys / synths, the sweet electric guitars and the poppy FM radio vocals to the band name and their albums neon-glow filled artwork.
‘In the Deepest Of Dreams’ is NEW ARCADES latest full length album appeared past year, but now the band is releasing “In the Deepest Of Dreams (Deluxe Edition)’‘ featuring a bunch of bonus tracks, remixes and including the band’s recent EP ‘Live at Langley Way’. Yes, NEW ARCADES is a ‘real band’, and perform live.
These are songs filled with endless radio-worthy vocals and snappy, catchy hooks that would found place into many ’80s movie soundtracks for sure.
For a band I associate almost entirely with catchy dreampop vocals, they really manage to pack a punch with some extremely well-produced and pure instrumentals.
Vocals do feature in the majority of tracks which is great because it adds substance to the notion that you can always recognise a ‘new arcades’ track when you hear one. And what we like about it is they have a concealed gentleness to them, they’re not trying to take up all the space available and push the synths and percussions in to the backdrop.
With a detailed production and stupendous mix & mastering, ”In the Deepest Of Dreams (Deluxe Edition)” takes you back to an era – the Eighties – when FM rock&pop / synth-pop music was something worth to, entertaining, fun.
