To be released next October, ”Secrets” is the debut album from ModX, the AOR project founded by Swedish musician Peter Eriksson, originally the frontman of the band Modesty in the late Eighties who gave us the really good Lite AOR album ‘Pieces Of Modesty’ back in 1989.
The idea for ModX has been a work in progress for Eriksson since as far back as 2005 but often put aside temporarily over the years, due to other commitments in the music industry. By the fall of 2020 though, he finally found the time to prioritize this labor of love and went into the studio with some musicians to start the recordings of the songs penned over the years.
Eriksson has sung and performed most the instruments except guitar solos and drumming, and the album is finally ready. And what an album will be! ModX has been releasing standalone singles / tracks from the album since last year, and we have here sufficient material to already affirm that ”Secrets” will be on many Top 10 ‘Best Of The Year‘ lists.
This is timeless AOR with Melodic Rock spice crafted with attention to detail, where melody rule. Needless to say production is crystal clear, but it’s the songwriting what really shine here.
Forget the ‘AOR by numbers’ type of stuff, these songs are emotional, from the heart, varied, intelligent, plenty of soaring vocals, sparkling keyboards, bright guitars – think Mr Mister, 1985 Journey, StreetTalk – all killers / no fillers.
