Michael McDermott, the Chicago singer-songwriter who can count Stephen King among his fans, has spent decades exploring the musical territory where personal and universal stories fade into each other. His journey now continues with his new record St. Paul’s Boulevard.

McDermott stares right into the eyes of the ghosts from his glorious and tormented past. This is sort of a concept album that introduces lost and found characters from all walks of life, all struggling to survive along a road that is a metaphor of life itself. The album has been produced by Steven Gillis, who’s also featured in it as a drummer. Alongside him, Matt Thompson (bass), Grant Tye (guitars), Vijay Tellis-Nayak (piano, organ), and Michael’s wife Heather Lynne Horton (violin, voice). The sound is made extra special by the presence of Will Kimbrough (guitars, banjo, mandolin), John Deaderick (piano, organ, keyboards), Danny Mitchell (piano, keyboards), and most importantly by the legendary guitars of David Grissom.
