Maid of Mettle is an original, symphonically influenced, female-fronted metal band. Lyricist and lead vocalist Deanna Whalen writes about everything from insomnia, child abuse and addiction to religious wars and spiritual enlightenment but always about real life experiences. Deanna studied Bel Canto/ Italian Opera style singing for 8 yrs and uses her well rounded tones in every line of her vocal expressions as she delivers her messages with power, control and passion. Maid Of Mettle stands for, being in the service of honoring one's true self. Because life is made up of the darkness as well as the light and the combination of these experiences is what makes us who we are, song subject matter within Maid Of Mettle is not always about sunshine on a field of daisies but largely the hand holding
with and embracing of the dark side and the brokeness that we, as humans, experience in one way or anther. The musical and lyrical emotional range of expression is vast but never without some sort of lesson, self-reflection or climactic point. The Maid Of Mettle band is currently made up of Deanna Whalen- Lead vocalist, Ryan Mack- Lead Guitarist, Jeff Ashcraft- Bassist and Jason Jaros- Drums and Percussion. We are happy to all be working together and are very excited about all of our creative efforts and possibilities! New material has been written for the next record and work on the third record has already begun and will be a combination of writing styles from the current/new line-up.
