LIVERBOX is a classic Glam Hard Rock act hailing from Oulu Finland. Formed in 2015 as a cover band focusing on 80s metal, they have played tribute shows for many Classic Hard Rock and Metal bands such as IRON MAIDEN, WHITESNAKE, JUDAS PRIEST, KISS, AC/DC, and DEEP PURPLE.
In 2018 LIVERBOX has released their debut album (featured at plotn08) receiving good reviews and they played many gigs before pandemic hit the world.
But now LIVERBOX is back with a new album and a new record label (Metalopolis) promising a world-wide distribution of “The Great Spirit Of Rock ´N´ Roll“, the band’s new CD produced & mixed by Janne Huotari, who is very well known for his work with Finnish bands like LORDI and TEMPLE BALLS.
The basic tracks were recorded live in the studio, the way the band believes it was meant to be played; dirty and rough, packed with attitude and passion. If you are into ’80s-style Street Glam Rock, LIVERBOX is the perfect band for you.
One listen to the kickin’ opening track ‘Rock ’N’ Roll Is My Religion,’ shows they have transitioned from metal covers to original, Michael Monroe-like, good-time rock with a rather neat slide solo too. They can do subtle too… ’Calling On You’ veers a bit too much poppy, but the harmonies and bass line rescue it.
‘Reaper on Heels’ is a great closer to an outright metal song with Priestly touches and clever lyrics. ‘No One Way Ticket’ is out BJ’s with its slow hi-hat accompanied intro before the riff kicks in. The short, sharp, ‘Inside Outside’ with its intense riffing brings to mind Hanoi Rocks. Then ‘Whiskey Trails’ is fun and very 80s sleazy.
This album may not break new ground but the ground Liverbox do cover is done so well and with humour, originality and fun that it is irresistible from the outset… well worth a listen.
