Isildurs Bane, in both English and Swedish, is one of the names for the Ring from Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy. When the band was born, in 1976, there was a huge interest in fantasy all over the place - in books, art and music, so it was only logical to choose a name according to the kind of music we played.
