Hurt released his 6th studio album The Crux via Carved Records.The lead single How We End Up Alone was a perfect example of what you might expect.
The Crux is a creative masterpiece , both conceptual and musically rich, exploring the human condition. It is an unique musical journey darker and heavier than previously. Track Eden illustrates this feeling. The striking opening track, So When gives the atmosphere for the rest of the album. The frustations , the anger are perfectly expressed by an outstanding musicianship.
They deliver us an enjoyable experience. Spectacular guitar work in Cuffed or So When, crunchy guitar solo in Numbers, emotional vocals as well as honest lyrics are some of highlights de l’album. They took their time and they were right. Artistically, The Crux is the must. Musically, it is a real pleasure to listen to.
It is musically complex while remaining melodic and accessible for listeners. You easily find yourself to replay the album again and again to discover something new every time. The music is highly intriguing by a band that brings its music to another level. They take you on the most delightful musical journey of the year that makes you want to return.
Their music is a tasteful of whirlwind of upbeat rhythms that easily match together to create a whole musical world. I love J.Loren ‘s violin featuring in How We End Up Alone, Cuffed , Adonai which is a mix of delicious violin, blues rock riffs and awesome guitar solos. Two tracks When It’s cold and How We End Up Alone are radio-friendly. My favorite Cuffed , Caught in the Rain , Numbers, The Seer are other potential singles alongside How We End Up Alone. However, the rest of the songs are worthy of much love. The album reaches its zenith with the closer track, the soaring and beautiful ballad The Seer.
They don’t use the archaic formula that is to create the same writing and production. This album will your companion in your daily inspiration. It will become a classic in your library. Accomplished work by one of most under estimated hard rockers. Spread the word.
