Many thanks for your assistance Alex F, it’s very much appreciated.
Had to laugh at the description included here:
“UNFORTUNATELY、1994 WAS THE YEAR WHEN BUTT-ROCK (Grunge) WAS AT ITS PEAK SO HEAVEN’S WISH DIDN’T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST THE NO-TALENT FLANNEL-WEARING SHOEGAZERS”.
The author seems confused as’Butt Rock’ was how Glam Rock was sometimes labelled by it’s detractors, it wasn’t a term ever applied to ‘Grunge’ acts. As for the ‘no-talent flannel-wearing shoegazers’ jibe, whilst there were plenty of bands at that time that i didn’t care for either, that era also had amazing bands like Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mad Season, Screaming Trees, Jane’s Addiction, Temple Of The Dog, Rage Against The Machine, Paw, Faith No More etc. It still makes me chuckle whenever i see this ‘grunge killed hair metal’ narrative parroted, as the so-caled ‘grunge’ music really wasn’t that different from what had come before, the only real divergence was in the presentation. To me it was all a case of ‘the emperor’s new clothes’.
I loved both Soundgarden & Circus Of Power, Alice In Chains & Vain and never felt the need to pick a ‘side’ because it was all good Rock music as far as i was concerned.
Prople are funny.
Do you have the original version on Universal Records? It has some songs not featured on the Retrospect Reissue.
