When the idea was developed to issue this DVD, as the title may indicate already, is chosen for the same approach as for the CD with the same name. Roy Teysse of Universal TV has asked me to write an explanation. This time it is short, shaped as some foot notes. However, I will give you some nice details.
1. That Day 2:28
(G. Kooymans/M. Gerritsen)
Europhone Muziek, 1966 Polydor B.V.
Clip about home movies - live 1966
The first beginning; an 8 mm recording, made by the brother of George: Herman Kooymans. The band consists of 5 members, being George, Jaap Eggermont (drums), Frans Krassenburg (vocal), Peter de Ronde (guitar) and the undersigned.
2. Daddy Buy Me A Girl 2:41
(G. Kooymans)
Impala Music/New Dayglow, 1966 Polydor B.V.
TV-program Twien (NCRV), December 2, 1966
A recording from the teener TV-program Twien, made by Bob Rooyens. The girl on the first elephant was the English go-go-dancer Felicity that played a roll in most of Bob’s shows in the mid-sixties. Her position as an eye-catcher of the "Nederpop-tv" was later taken by Penny de Jager.
3. Sound Of The Screaming Day 2:51
(G. Kooymans)
Impala Music, 1967 Polydor B.V.
Pause film, July 29, 1967, directed by Bob Rooyens
Krassenburg en De Ronde have left the band meanwhile and in this short movie, which is made at the "Loosdrechtse Plassen" Barry Hay is coming in as a new member of the band. In fact he was the first encounter in the ’operating area’ between the settled members of the band and this new band member. The slapstick type of mud fight was a perfect ice-breaker.
4. I’ve Just Lost Somebody 3:05

Dayglow Music, 1968 Polydor B.V.
TV-program "Moef Ga Ga" (AVRO), April 3, 1968

(G. Kooymans)
Dayglow Music, 1971 Red Bullet Productions B.V.

(G. Kooymans)

After the English and American adventures, it was time for a successor of Radar Love. This clip was filmed on the Beverwijk garbage dump. Text and image can still be model for an environment spot of the ministry of VROM.

Back into the quadrumvirate with this typical seventies summer hit.

15. Twilight Zone 4:53
(G. Kooymans)
Snamyook Music, 1982 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
For the clip of this song the unknown, but to our opinion very talented young film man Dick Maas was approached. Shortly after that, he became very famous in Holland because of his movie "De Lift".
16. The Devil Made Me Do It 3:19
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Volksmusic, 1982 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
As well as Twilight Zone this was from the album Cut. The video budget was finished, so the choice was made for a fast and easy registration by the Toppop team of Rien van Wijk in the Hilversum NOS studio.
17. When The Lady Smiles 6:02
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Snamyook Music, 1984 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
Here we pulled out all the stops with Dick Maas as far as the story goes; Acting, cloth changing and Monty Python type humour. Very much fun during the recording of this movie. The wife of our truck driver wanted a main roll as the old nun, which was molested in the train. In reality the train was parked in the carriage house, where the whole film circus was located during a day.
18. Clear Nite, Moonlight 4:39
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Volksmusic, 1984 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
Again a Maas production. We remember the nightly recordings, dressed in summer clothes in a cabriolet, driving hours back and forth over the A28, which was under construction, for the ’perfect take’. The temperature was just around freezing. We were frozen to the bones.
19 N.E.W.S. 5:17
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Volksmusic, 1984 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
An experimental production requires a similar cinematic approach. The artistic photographer/film maker Paul de Nooyer was chosen by us to be the director. He filmed a few shots of our types and put these shots together while we were touring the USA.
20. Something Heavy Going Down 5:14
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Volksmusic, 1984 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
Again a production of Paul de Nooyer, made in his studio/house in Zeeland. Barry is playing a Future Video-Freak, a person type with much similarity to a U2 act in the 90ties (many years later!)
21. Quiet Eyes 4:42
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Volksmusic, 1986 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
Photographer Anton Corbijn made pictures of us for the cover of the album The Hole. During this session we found out that he, apart from photography, had developed a new passion: the production of music videos. The agreements were made quickly. During three fascinating days in the old Amacitia theatre in The Hague (also an area for first performances) the clip was recorded. The guest appearance by Dolf Brouwers as TV-cult figure Sjef van Oekel is still a memory. He lived in a simple "portiekwoning" in an alley behind the theatre. I had a coffee there later on.
22. Turn The World Around 5:32
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Bouncing Balls Music, 1989 Red Bullet Productions B.V.
Promo Clip
Location: the old gas works at "The Binckhorst" in The Hague, just before this building was pulled down. The figuration was, as usual for all our Dick Maas productions, carried out by acquaintances and known or unknown city types of The Hague. A couple of days we had a party, which is just as exhausting as work.
23. Going to The Run 4:11
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Bouncing Balls Music, 1991 Sony Music Entertainment (Holland) B.V.
TV-special Naked Truth
24. Another 45 Miles (Live Version) 3:50
(G. Kooymans)
Dayglow Music, 1992 Sony Music Entertainment (Holland) B.V.
TV-special Naked Truth
Recordings of our famous first acoustic performances in the Amsterdam Grand Café De Kroon.
25. Burning Stuntman 4:21
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Soul R. System, 1997 Golden Earring Benelux B.V.
Promo Clip
Still one time united with Dick Maas at his own location in Almere. Much noise, acting fun for Barry and Cesar and a beautiful stunt woman.
26. Paradise In Distress 4:59
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Soul R. System, 1999 Golden Earring Benelux B.V.
Promo Clip
Sonia Hermann-Dolz is a good friend of our light designer Marcus Muzea. She has made a few
wonderful documentaries. We asked her to give it a try......She said ’yes’ and we were very honoured. This gave us a few fascinating recording days and a fantastic result.
27. Whisper In A Crowd 4:30
(G. Kooymans/B. Hay)
Soul R. System, 1999 Golden Earring Benelux B.V.
Promo Clip
A PR company of young people with much talent named Shop Around got the trust from Barry and the order to take care of the cover and all the required PR material for the album Paradise In Distress. The film team of Shop Around went to New York to film a number of colourful people. Some shots of us, separately in an Amsterdam studio and an excellent mounting did the rest.
