GNP is the acronym for the Gilmour Negus Project, two of the members of Canadian pomp gods Saga. At this stage of their career, the two had left Saga to branch out on their own, and co-opted singer Robert Bevan to join them. Musically GNP are a cross between Saga and that other Canadian AOR act Agent, with Bevan's vocals at times zeroing in on Alfie Zappacosta with alarming similarity. A few guests play on this album as well, namely Jeff Jones (Red Rider) on bass, John Albani (Wrabit, Lee Aaron) and Bob Bartolucci on guitars. It's good lightweight pomp, without the dramatic instrumentation for which messrs Gilmour and Negus are more renowned for. However, it's a pleasant if not unspectacular romp through eleven tracks of predominantly keyboard oriented material.
