Swedes GLORIOUS BANKROBBERS are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year with a new album, their third. Meanwhile some of you requested the band’s 2 previous, and here’s the Demon Doll Records remastered reissue of debut 1984’s “Glorious Bankrobbers“, the only official version of this album to ever be released on CD.
Close in attitude to their Finnish counterparts Hanoi Rocks, the GLORIOUS BANKROBBERS 1984 release would spawn a generation of Hard Rock bands that would follow in their footsteps including the Hellacopters and Hardcore Superstar.
While the band mentioned the likes of The Who, AC/DC, Aerosmith and some punk bands as influence, the guys agree that this first album “Glorious Bankrobbers” was inspired by Motley Crue’s ‘Too Fast For Love”. Easy Action and future Europe guitarist Kee Marcello was the producer of this rocking piece of ’80s rock n roll.
The album is brimming from top to bottom with infectious styled anthems that will get stuck in your head for days. Dig into the killer tracks ‘Young Alcoholic Part 1″. “Jamie”, “Blood Shed Twist” as well as the album opener “Psycho Asshole” and you may need a tank of oxygen because these Glam Rockers are bringing it big time.
Robbed by their manager and his hair dresser girlfriend, feeling screwed over by their producer as well as being chased by police and arrested by custom agents and forced to stand trial, the Glorious Bankrobbers were almost literally living their band name. Chaos ensued wherever the gang resided, but they stay together and would release a second album.
