Yesterday we featured the remastered reissue of Canadian melodic hard rockers YOUNG GUN 1989’s album ”Bite The Bullet”. Well, around 1991 the band changed their name to FURY, signed a contract, and recorded a full album between 1993-1994. As happened with many acts in this musical style at the time, the record never was released.
Forward a decade, Escape Music contacted Fury members and arrange the release of the shelved recordings. Simply titled ”Fury”, this is a killer slice of punchy, polished, early Nineties North American melodic hard rock.
One wonders how this album wasn’t released back in the day, the songs are awesome, and production first rate.
While YOUNG GUN / FURY origins had a hair metal factor into their music – and you can hear some here – ”Fury” sounds and feels ballsier, still very melodic yet with attack. There’s a lot of harmonies over high-powered choruses, tons of guitar layers, and a big rhythm section – all driven by infectious hooks. We have guest backing vocals by Paul Laine, Chrissy Steele, Jim Vallance… Loverboy’s Paul Dean play some guitar, and more.
FURY shoulda been huge > this album kills. Crank this 11-tracker (don’t forget the hidden track #12 after a long gap) no filler in sight.
Now out of print, ”Fury” has become pretty hard to find.
