Hailing from Essen, Germany, FORMOSA are ready to release their new album “Pyrite“, and by far is their best effort since the band formed a decade ago. Originally their sound was brisk, raw, but now 2025 FORMOSA is a polished, oiled rock n’ roll machine with a powerful clean classic hard rock sound.
”Pyrite”, mixed and mastered by Eclipse frontman Erik Mårtensson, rocks hard from beginning to end. FORMOSA’s formula to keep you entertained through the 13 tracks of “Pyrite” is simple: their songs rarely exceed the 3-minute mark.
”Pyrite” is Hard Rock with a smooth edge – there’s plenty of drive and groove but it’s never discordant or aggressive and contains enough power to get bodies moving to the rhythm. We really love the guitar work from Nik Beer throughout the album. There’s some really delicious catchy riffage which is highly infectious still retaining a heavy stance. And the band add a bluesy touch on a couple of songs.
Classic hard rock fans who enjoy a heavy dose of melody will revel in the infectious nature of this album for sure.
