"Hi guys! Check this out! TOTO fans/musicians paying tribute to us playing TOTO tracks! An amazing project benefitting my brothers Mike and Jeff - and Fergie! Please share this - and go support/buy! Thanks a lot for this beautiful tribute, all of you guys are awesome!" In May 1997 a number of people of the Toto mailinglist on the Internet decided to record Toto songs as a tribute to Toto. Quickly this became a serious project with musicians contributing from all over the world". This is the text on the back of the CD booklet of Fanfields 1. In 2001 Fanfields 1 was released as a Fans' Tribute to Toto. The album was praised for its honest feel and great musicianship. Many musicians from all over the world contributed, like for instance Lars Säfsund and Robert Säll of Work of Art, Phil Vincent, Ed James and yours truly. After TOTO bass player Mike Porcaro died in 2015 I felt that the time had arrived to start the work on another Fanfields album with profits going to the Michael Porcaro Fund (Sweet Relief Musicians Fund), ALS foundation and Fergie Frederiksen Foundation (Liver Foundation). We felt it was the least we could do to give back something to the band that gave and gives us so much pleasure and inspiration through their albums and live concerts. The end result being Fanfields 2 which was release October 1st 2016. That album (featuring over 50 musicians from all over the world including Sam Porcaro and Chris Trujillo) was also crowd funded and sold out completely. A lot of people learned too late about FF2, and missed the opportunity to purchase the album. This is why a digital only version was released, including bonus songs.
