Mr. Big’s singer ERIC MARTIN not only is a rock star in Japan, but also a renowned solo artist all over Asia. During the last two decades Eric has an exclusive record deal with Sony Records International, and has been recording several albums in Japan, covering hit songs of bands from the land of the rising sun but also international.
With a special arrangements suited for his voice and a capable group of session musicians, Eric Martin recorded the “Mr. Vocalist” series, performing songs from Japanese pop-rock bands and international hits from the likes of Mariah Carey, The Bangles, Celine Dion, Karen Carpenter, and more.
As requested, here we have the 3 Mr. Vocalist albums, “Mr. Vocalist“, “Mr. Vocalist 2“, and “Mr. Vocalist 3“, plus “Mr. Vocalist Asian Version“, with different songs destined for the Asian marked outside Japan (the release was a hit in Hong Kong).
The versions from Japanese bands have been translated / sung by Martin with English lyrics, and all the covers – including the international songs – are done in a balladistic mood, with an occasional rock&pop uptempo vibe.
The “Mr. Vocalist” albums are special to enjoy Eric Martin’s voice, singing different things and discovering the many colors of his gifted voice.
