Some say retro-rock is in its apogee, we think that classic rock simply never disappeared, just now more people is discovering – and listening too – true rock n’ roll, and while may be not chart topping than in its heyday, there’s a huge audience eager to hear real guitar fuzz.
DOUBLE TALKER, from Ottawa, Ontario, play their music as if time hasn’t passed by and we’re stuck in the ’70s. The quintet’s debut album self-titled “Double Talker“, depicts a painting of a lake from their hometown on the cover that doesn’t reflect the type of music inside. They don’t care – DOUBLE TALKER does what they want, and play what they want, no record label pressure.
This is bluesy hard rock fronted with distinctive vocals that boast a sleazy manic tone: dual guitar thundering, bowel quaking bass riffage, bashy drums, and that beast on the mic. Oh yeah, Ryan Kerr’s gravelly voice blast your ears.
Musically riff-driven groovy hard rockin’ (add some psych-rawk too, and why not a little pinch of stoner) these songs take you back to another era, so if you like your classic rock with a twin guitar attack, you should try “Double Talker”.
