Deus Ex Machina were formed in 1989 in Athens, Greece by Dimitris Spyropoulos and Dimitris Manthos. Spyropoulos, ex drummer Yiannis Venardis and ex singer Nikos Charalambopoulos (Tsouloufis) were all veterans of the local punk scene of the early 80s in the band Adiexodo.
