Formed in the late 60s, Coven is a legendary US proto-metal band that reflects a variety of influences, combining classic psychedelic tendencies with folk and proggy-doom-goth accents. Jinx Dawson is absolutely gorgeous - sensual and sometimes aggressive, demonically hard rock vocals.
Occultism, black magic and esoteric practices - this is the atmosphere of their first classic album Witchcraft Destroys Minds And Reaps Souls (1969), which is both majestic and beautifully melodic. In 1972 their second album was released, which is also very enjoyable, even though it sounds less complicated and less innovative than the first. It included the song One Tin Soldier from the cult film of the time "Billi Jack" ...
The group disbanded in 1974. And in 2007, Jinx Dawson announced the re-formation of the group. They recorded new material - Goth Queen-Out of the Vault (2008).
