Swedish melodic rockers from Malmö COLORSTONE are releasing a new album, “DECA“, showcasing their last decade in the business, inclusing songs from their last albums (some produced by renowned Narada Michael Walden of Starship / Jeff Beck fame), some only appeared as standalone singles.
All musicians involved in Colorstone are veterans from the international rock scene having recorded on over 50 albums with various artists and covering many genres, like guitarist Fredrik Bergengren which is founder member of AOR act TIME GALLERY whom released two very good albums during the Nineties, keyboardist Tommy Falk (Peter Sandberg Band), or vocalist Johan Dahlström (ex Silver Mountain) .
So if you are new to COLORSTONE, expect high quality musicianship here, solid songwriting and polished production. The music is classic melodic rock / rock&pop with a Scandinavian sound and an ’80s / ’90s style, wrapped by an updated production.
Bergengren clearly is the musical director, as these songs are mostly groovy guitar driven tunes with a strong and bouncy rhythm section. Johan Dahlström’s vocals are clear and intense, sometimes rough, sometimes melodic, with a wide range reaching high notes when needed. As you can see in the line-up, all the guys contribute backing vocals creating a sustained layer of harmonies making the choruses prominent and thick.
Very strong set songs from a band of skilled players / songwriters from the Scandinavian scene, melodic, very well produced & mixed.
