American hard rockers CINDERELLA released their fourth and final studio album, ”Still Climbing”, on November 8, 1994, through Mercury Records – last Saturday the record celebrated its 31st anniversary.
During a performance at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia in 1985, Cinderella first introduced “Talk Is Cheap” and “Freewheelin” to their audience. The version of “Talk Is Cheap” performed during the ’80s was shorter in duration and had a faster tempo compared to the final version recorded for ”Still Climbing”. Prior to recording their debut album Night Songs, the band also created a demo of “Talk Is Cheap” around 1985.
Then song “Hot & Bothered” initially appeared on the soundtrack album Wayne’s World: Music from the Motion Picture in 1992. At the time Cinderella had ”Still Climbing” mostly recorded recorded, but the release of the album was delayed due to lead vocalist Tom Keifer losing his voice in 1991.
Stylistically, ”Still Climbing” maintained the stripped-down, bluesy sound that Cinderella had started exploring in their previous album, Heartbreak Station, but at the same time harks back to their origins; not only “Talk Is Cheap” and “Freewheelin” were written in the early ’80s, almost aal the songs were.
”Still Climbing” is Cinderella’s musically most complete album, a hidden gem for many rock n’ roll enthusiasts. Now specialists Bad Reputation remastered the album reissuing the CD with bonus tracks.
