Child Saint was the brain child of lead guitarists John Spectre, Brian Scott, and manager Rick Rayl. Formed in 1984 in Orange County California, Child Saint took advantage of the red-hot metal market in Hollywood/Southern California to find the best musicians available.
After adding Bassist Steve “Ripper” Hardin in late 84 and Drummer Gary Schultze in Early 85, Child Saint recorded their first demo in March of 85 and in a very short time, receiving airtime on KNAC Radio and KLOS Radio as well as headlining clubs throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County. Singers came and went as Child Saint looked for a true Heavy Metal singer. The first was Rudy Gray who appeared on the first recording sessions of Child Saint that played on radio in Southern California. Rudy left the band to join Enticer. Bob McCormack was next in the lineup of singers. He arrived for an audition on a Harley in 86 and became the singer for several years. Child Saint went back into the studio to record The Child Saint 2 song EP that is now a collectors item and very hard to find. Bob McCormack left the band and we found Tim Winchester. Tim came into the band and really killed it. With Tim, Child Saint recorded 4 new songs and continued selling out many any live shows to large crowds at many venues.
The band was heavily influenced by Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and that was reflected in the song writing. Keeping up steady pace of live performances, the band played extensively in Hollywood and Orange County as regulars at The Troubador, Whisky a Go-Go, The Roxy and Gazzarris in Hollywood and Jezebels and The Marquee in Orange County.
